Staff

Deborah Nett, Executive Director
Deborah is a UW Green Bay graduate with degrees in Environmental Policy and Planning and Public and Nonprofit Administration. What has been called an “odd mix of degrees” is serving Deb well in her current position at the Land Trust. Growing up here and then choosing to raise a family here in northeast Wisconsin has given her an affinity for the land and the people of this region.

Other interests include reading, gardening, and camping.

Jim Klinkert, Director of Land Protection
Jim has been with the Land Trust for nearly a decade. From the time he walked in as a volunteer, his involvement, knowledge and above all his passion for the land have been invaluable to the Land Trust.

If you have seen the photos we use in our publications, you know Jim is not only our Director of Land Protection, but also a talented photographer. His love of the natural world is evident in the stunning photos he takes of all our protected properties. Having lived in the Appleton area for forty years, Jim is a retired school teacher and former Assistant Naturalist at Mosquito Hill Nature Center.

In his personal time Jim enjoys taking photos, biking, camping, listening to classical music, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Julie Hawkins-Tyriver, Program Assistant
Julie is a graduate of UW-Oshkosh with degrees in Environmental Studies and Urban Planning, and volunteered at Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust prior to becoming part of the staff.

Hailing from Milwaukee, Julie has been a resident of northeast Wisconsin for four years and in her spare time enjoys reading, photography, camping, and snowshoeing. Curious by nature, she loves wandering the woods by foot or canoe with her husband and dog every chance she gets.
