This conservancy contains shorline of Long Lake that is the longest section of natural and undeveloped shoreline on the Chain O' Lakes, and is valuable spawning habitat for northern pike. The jewels of this property are the many wetlands aiging in the preservation of Emmons Creek and Emmons Lake. Other than red pine plantings and old fields, most of the land is forested deciduous with a fair amount of alder thickets in the lower areas. Wildlife includes deer, pileated woodpeckers, bluejays, crow, chickadees, sandhill cranes, turkeys, and red-tailed hawks.
