This site is a delightful, well managed continuum of Northeastern Wisconsin vegetational communties. The underlying bedrock is Precambrian granite overlain with Pleistocene glacial till. The riverbed to the north, the irregular topography, and the varying subtrates of sand and boulder fields created a habitat continuum that supported nine distinct plant communities. These communties include:
- Riparian Wetlands
- Uplands
- Meadow
- Northern Lowland Forests
- Floodplain
- Northern Mesic Forest
