Our Mission
To conserve the natural heritage of northeast Wisconsin’s lands and waters
LAND PROTECTED FOREVER
· Campaign to protect adjacent lands yields early results: 39 acres protected through conservation
easement in 2009:
o Mount Morris II Conservancy will add 39 acres to the already in Waushara County is an addition
to existing conservancy lands. Protects 13.5 acres of land that are part of a Karner Blue Butterfly
habitat restoration effort.
· Waupaca County protects 68 acre Hlaban family land. Family attributes conservation to experience with
NEWLT
· 32 inquiries from parties interested in preserving land
· Land Acquisition Program begins using project selection criteria to choose high quality projects from
among land protection opportunities
· Longer project timelines
· Improvements made to documentation practice and record keeping
· Donated services for land protection included: legal, environmental assessment, biological evaluation,
photography, baseline documentation
LAND STEWARDSHIP
· Land Stewardship Program founded and staffed
· Volunteer recruitment campaign
· 60 active volunteers, an increase of 50%
· 35 protected properties monitored
· Educational field day for land stewardship volunteers to learn about land management practices for
sensitive areas
EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
· Education and Outreach Committee founded
· NEWLT Begins program of field experience offerings to members and volunteers
· Spring Field Trip to Reeve Reserve attended by 34 people
· Fall Field Trip to Bags Hill Conservancy attended by 29 people
· 3 Presentations and Community meetings
· 2 Newsletters mailed
· Start Conservancy Card post card mailings for land protection projects
ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
· Staffed by Executive Director, Director of Land Protection, and Program Assistant
· Land Stewardship and Education/Outreach Programs started
· 14 Board of Directors members
· 303 member households
ADMINISTRATION
· Income was $189,000 and expenses $137,200
· Total Assets $558,448
· Challenge Match of $50,000 met. Spurs increased conservations efforts for 2010.
· Land Guardians established with 21 charter members joining in 2009
