2006 ANNUAL REPORT

ACCOMPLISHMENTS of Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust in 2006:

 

LAND PRESERVATION:

•  330 acres protected through conservation easements:

• in Waushara County, 40 acres with the headwaters of Alder Creek  and another 40 acres of glacial moraine, oak forest and grassland restoration;

• in Waupaca County,  70 acres on the Wolf River, and 180 acres of CRP land, wetlands, and tamarack swamp.

• Total of 2059 acres protected, with another 164 preserved in January 2007. 

• Existing conservation easement properties monitored.

• Helped other groups such as Friends of High Cliff with land protection.

• Donated services for conservation easements included: legal, environmental assessment, biological evaluation, photography, baseline documentation, and management of invasive buckthorn. 

 

EDUCATION:

• 12 Presentations and Community meetings held in five major service areas, reaching over 450 people:  including Tenth Anniversary Picnic, Friends of Little Wolf Headwaters’ meetings, Lake Michigan Shorelands Alliance, Wild Ones Conference, service groups.

• Guckenberg-Sturm Marsh Preserve work parties, water quality monitoring training, and Friends of Little Wolf Headwaters’ picnic at Pauer Environmental Education Preserve.

• 3 Newsletters mailed to over 750 members and friends, 2 in full color.

• New website, brochure and logo developed.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

• Staffed by Executive Director, Program Director and Consultant

• 11 Board of Directors members shared financial management, planning, environmental assessment, fundraising, non-profit management and other talents.

• 3 Committees active: Land, Board Governance, and Membership, Outreach and Development Committees.

• 250 members.

• Staff, Board and Volunteer training, including Land Trust Alliance Rally attendance.

 

ADMINISTRATION:

• Grants received from Bock Foundation, Audubon’s Land Fund for Wisconsin, and Oshkosh Area Community Foundation.

• 5 Endowments valued over $200,000.

• 90 volunteers donated 2000 hours, valued at over $35,000.
